PERCUSSION 2009-2010

Goddard High School Percussion Program

Marching is over and a new season of musical achievement begins! Concert season is composed of many different areas, Symphonic Winds, Concert Bands 1&2, Full Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, and Personal Solos. These different areas apply to different students but promise to be exciting musical experience. This part of the year is rather relaxed when it comes to events and happenings. However, the music throughout the rest of the year will be exceedingly difficult and while require dedication and patience. Let us strive for exceptional ensembles and build our confidence as PERCUSSIONISTS who are well rounded in the art of music.

Announcements (this week below)

The calender of events will be updated with all concert season events soon!

Concert season is here. Prepare yourself with the essentials.

  1. Vic Firth SD1 concert snare sticks (or preferred *non marching* stick)
  2. a pair of vibe/marimba medium hard/hard mallets
  3. a pair of medium hard/hard xylophone mallets
  4. a pair of hard glockenspiel mallets (either brass or xylo mallets)
  5. a triangle beater (or 1/8" X 6" dense metal rod)
  6. timpani mallets soft/medium
  7. stick/mallet bag with name on it
  8. all sticks/mallets labeled in some way for identification

All of these items may be purchased at Senseny Music, Midwest Drum and Percussion, Guitar Center, Damm Music, or www.steveweissmusic.com. This is a frequently more affordable alternative music store.

We are percussionists therefore we must be well rounded and prepared. Do not complain about purchasing these items as many wind players purchase reeds, mouth pieces, pads, mutes, valve oil, etc... Music costs money. Respect your instruments and others DO NOT STEAL STICKS/MALLETS.

FUNDRAISERS FUNDRAISERS. Things that raise funds! We need them!
